An Expansion Joint generally consists of a Bellows/Pressure Carrier. A Bellows is a series of one or more convolutions designed to handle internal pressures of a piping/ducting system. A bellow must be flexible enough to absorb vibration, axial, lateral, and/or angular movements all based on operating conditions. Bellows can be manufactured from a myriad of materials including many types of Stainless Steel, Duplex, High Nickel Alloys, Titanium, various Elastomers, and PTFE. Bellows make up the “membrane” or “pressure carrier” of exhaust connectors and expansion joints.
